Read the passage below, and fill in each blank with the most suitable word or phrase from the box.

unable — increasing — richest — birth — dead — decreasing — capable — equally

Is the world overpopulated? How many people can the earth support? Should countries try to limit their population? These are serious questions that governments, international organizations, and even individuals must think about. The population of the world has been (21) increasing faster and faster, but seventy-five percent of the world’s population live in Third World countries. This means that most people are poor and are (22) unable to give children a decent life.

Does the Earth have enough natural resources to support this many people? Some scientists say that there are enough resources to support people, but the problem is distribution. The (23) richest countries, with a small percentage of the world’s population, use the most of the resources. If these resources were distributed (24) equally, there would be enough for everyone. Some say that we must limit population growth because our resources are limited. International organizations have put forward several recommendations to ease the problem of overpopulation, including an increase in food production, general economic development in target areas, and a decrease in (25) birth rate.

The length of Tour de France varies, as does the number of stages, but in recent years, the race has featured about 200 stages. Cyclists generally have two or three days off for rest. One-day races usually last four to seven hours and span from 160 to 380 km. Examples of one day races include the world championship road race, the Olympic road race, European spring classics such as Paris – Roubaix.
